In January 2011, Barbara Livingston will assume the position of General Manager. She is very much looking forward to working with Music Director Leslie Dala, the Bach Choir Board of Directors and the dedicated, enthusiastic members of the choir.
A veteran of many of North America’s most prestigious stages, Barbara enjoyed a successful career as an opera singer and concert artist in Canada and internationally. Her operatic repertoire included many of Verdi’s heroines and Bellini’s Norma and Puccini’s Turandot. Her concert work included repertoire by Beethoven, Mahler, Britten and Verdi. In Vancouver, Ms Livingston sang Britten’s War Requiem, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Verdi’s Requiem with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Vancouver Bach Choir. Between 2003 and 2009, she maintained a voice studio at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, where she taught and coached advanced students. She was also the Assistant Artistic Director/Administrator of the Victoria Conservatory of Music’s Opera Studio Program. From 2007 through 2009, Barbara was the President of the Board of the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival. She graduated from Capilano University’s Arts and Entertainment Management programme in 2010. She worked with David Pay at Vancouver’s Music on Main, where she developed, implemented and managed the organization’s “Emerge on Main” programme.
