Mahler's Symphony No 8 is a magnificent, colossal production, the largest most astonishing piece you will ever hear—and see—in live performance. It is nicknamed "The Symphony of a Thousand" because of the sheer number of performers needed to stage the event.

With 8 fabulous soloists, including soprano Measha Brueggergosman, the Vancouver Bach Choir, the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and the Vancouver Bach Children's Chorus.

The VSO is proud to perform Mahler's 8th as the showcase event of the 2010 Olympic Arts Festival.
